Probable Active Shooter at Pentagon Metro

There appear to have been at least 2-3 victims transported to local hospitals. Metro, buses and roads around the Pentagon are shutting down.

No reliable info yet on motive.

Does the motive matter? Too many people have too many guns and guns are still seen by too many people to be answer rather than a problem.

I’m going to hazard a guess before we know anything: disgruntled someone, probably with a history of domestic abuse.

Op— in general you’re right, motive doesn’t matter, amd it’s a disgruntled white guy In this case though, the shooting is near the Pentagon, so it is possible some is going after Pentagon employees or there is another national security issue. We’ll have to wait and see.

The gunman was shot by a Pentagon police officer and did not get inside the Pentagon building, a Pentagon Force Protection Agency official told POLITICO. One other officer was injured and is being transported to seek medical attention. There are no additional suspects at this time and the scene is secure.

Super weird - AP is reporting that the shooter was named John Patrick Bedell, which was the name of the guy killed during a Pentagon shooting in 2010? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Pentagon_shooting

CNN says one police officer died.
This morning on local TV, witnesses reported seeing two people down and CPR implemented before they were taken to hospital.

The police officer who died was stabbed. May he RIP.

This report said they killed the suspect, but I have heard other reports that the suspect was at large.
