If you are working out at the gym maskless... question

Anonymous
If you are bothered by people exercising at gyms maskless, this post is not for you.

If you have been working out at a gym maskless... are you returning to masking in stores (where it is optional for those who are vaccinated)? Because honestly it seems silly to me. If I'm not masking at the gym, and not getting/spreading covid, and haven't in over a year of doing so... getting/spreading it going to the grocery store seems incredibly unlikely.

Obviously the places were covid is spreading are private gatherings, and not retail shopping.

I work out maskless and don’t wear a mask anywhere I don’t have to. At this point, that is pretty much Drs offices and hospital.

I don’t plan on wearing a mask again unless I’m mandated. I’m vaccinated. Covid is mostly spreading among unvaccinated. The vaccinated that do get a break through case are mild. I’m in my 30s with no risk factors

Fact: 99 percent of Covid cases are from the unvaccinated. I’m vaccinated and been working out massless for over a year now at the gym. Not wearing a mask unless required.

That mild, breakthrough case is contagious and could kill an unvaccinated child. Or an adult who, for medical reasons cannot receive a vaccine. I’m fully vaccinated. I’m masking again in public to protect young children. I do not wear a mask when I work out.

Can you explain the rationale of working out maskless at a gym, but then wearing a mask at say, Safeway or Target?

I don’t wear mask anywhere. Not at the gym, not at other stores.

I have gone back and forth on this. On the one hand, i don’t really mind wearing a mask and I figure hey, why not limit risk? On the other hand, I am never around somebody at the store for more than maybe 3 minutes. I think I’m closer to people at the store than I am at the gym, but the risk just isn’t there.

So I wear my mask to the store about half the time.

About 300 kids have died from Covid. More have died from the flu. You are not saving anyone by wearing a mask while vaccinated.

Yea for one reason: no kids in my gym. I wear the mask in public again to protect kids who can’t vaccinate. Adults in my gym made their choice. If they’re unvaccinated it’s not my problem to protect them anymore.

Hey bonehead, kids don’t need to die for me to still not want them to get covid, get hospitalized, and put them and their parents through watching their kids struggle to breathe. Get it?

No point in arguing with someone who doesn't care.

The thing is that person is probably a parent if they’re on this board. Do I think my kids will die of covid if they get it? No. Do I want to go through the hassle of testing, quarantine, missing activities/school, canceling plans because they get it from somewhere? Do I want Covid outbreaks among kids to affect school operations in any way? Also no. So I appreciate anyone who cares enough about that stuff to mask up in any situation where kids are to save all of them and their families that hassle. And I do it for them too.

As always, adults unvaccinated by choice factor 0% into any of my choices. I literally do not care what happens to them.

Its not as simple as jus masking and if your kids are in person, activities and all the stuff you are doing, you are equally the problem.

No and I am tired of this false equivalency. Those in my family who can be vaccinated are. We all mask. My kids don’t need to spend their life indoors because adults won’t vaccinate and we are NOT the ones fueling the variants and spread. Stop peddling this “everyone who leaves their house is at fault” garbage.

I have not worn a mask at the gym since they lifted the requirement. I only wear a mask when absolutely required. That said I am getting more concerned with the delta variant and have recently heard of numerous cases of people who are fully vaccinated contracting corvid. Still not wearing a mask out and about but that many change for me as cases rise.
