If you are working out at the gym maskless... question

This was me! In a fit of optimism I started back to the gym, masked. That was back in May. Delta has changed that. .
If I didn’t have young kids, I’d still go. But given what we’re learning about how both vaxxed and unvaxxed can spread it, I can’t risk it.

We had to pull our kids out of daycare for 2 weeks because there was a confirmed case in one child’s classroom) - so it also meant the sibling had to
come home as well. And man, it threw off the delicate balance that is life in the time of COVId for us and 24 other families.

All of the rules need to shift to place burdens mostly on the voluntarily unvaccinated. Hopefully DC will follow NYC and require a vaccine passport at gyms. I’d still wear a mask, but being in a vaccinated environment would lower the risk and it’s bs that the voluntarily unvaccinated continue to have the power to make bars, gyms, restaurants and all places less safe based on their selfish choice. If you can’t be bothered to do the socially responsible thing, that should be a bigger problem for you than for me.

I am bummed that MoCo is reinstituting a mask requirement indoors. I have absolutely no problem wearing a mask in stores, offices, etc. and never stopped masking in those settings but I am not happy about wearing a mask at the gym. It's so uncomfortable to work out in a mask and I hate it and am annoyed since I'm fully vaxxed. Rant over. Don't come at me -- I will wear my mask as required or else stop going to the gym for now. Greater good and all.

Same here. I am in DC and so I am masking at the gym because it is now required. But if it wasn't, I likely would mask up everywhere but the gym. It's uncomfortable and unenjoyable to wear a mask at the gym, and it's NBD for me elsewhere.

I’ve worked out maskless throughout Covid. I never had it (unless I was asymptomatic and didn’t know). I was vaccinated as soon as it was available.

+1

I am fine wearing a mask in just about every setting, but wearing one at the gym it the worst. Hoping they don't go back to requiring them again where i live.

I know exercising with a mask is highly uncomfortable, but we're now heading into a Delta wave, and the indoor masking has to begin now. Trends for new cases right now are exponential, and don't believe that it's just the unvaccinated that are getting it. The "official" numbers for breakthrough Covid in vaccinated individuals are severely underestimated, because people aren't reporting their positive status.

If you can rescind your gym contract, start exercising outdoors or in your own home.

Truthfully, unless your gym has hangar doors it can open all day, now is not the time to sign long-term gym contracts. This pandemic consists of waves of variants. Our natural immunity and vaccine-induced immunity aren't as protective when a new variant comes along. So unmasked gyms aren't the best idea for the foreseeable future.

This sounds like overkill and not following CDC guidance.
