Do you think is Appropriate for a teacher to tell a 7th grade that
USA is the only Country in the world that has lockdown drills because there no crazy people with guns elsewhere? This happen 3 months ago I’m wondering if this is okay? |
Of course it's fine. The teacher makes a good point. |
Should she lie instead? |
Not true. Canadian schools have them as well. |
+1 I’d applaud her efforts to open the eyes of our brainwashed country. |
What is your problem with what she said? Because it's factually incorrect (as PP mentioned, Canada has them, too) or some other reason? FWIW, I would not be upset if a teacher said this to my child. |
I mean she's right. There's no mass shooter drills in elementary schools in France or South Korea. |
Yup. |
She's not correct, and other countries have drills for things we don't, such as bombings, but it would be foolish to pretend that the US doesn't lead the pack in school shootings. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1155011/number-school-shootings-g7-countries/ |
Is your problem that she was wrong factually? Or do you disagree with what you see as an anti-2A message? |
It’s fine. Slight hyperbole but essentially true. |
Did you hear it? I often find that what my 7th grader told me was said and the actual words that were said are slightly off.
How often do we hear “Dad said….” While DH is in the other room, overhears and yells in “that’s NOT what I said!” They half listen, try to stir the pot or are trying to get permission for something. It’s worse now than when mine was little. |
It happened 3 months ago and you’re still thinking about it? I want your problems, lady. |
+1 |
Short answer: absolutely. They're right on.
Bringing up Canada just is a distraction. Just because their statement contains a fallacy doesn't mean their entire claim is false. Enjoy the rest of your summer! |
