I moved into a new house and one of the light fixtures in the hallway is Tiffany craftsman style. It doesn’t give off a ton of light but isn’t bad looking either (like the boob light in the dining room that needs to go ASAP). Someone also gifted me a high-quality Tiffany lamp that is pretty but not something I would have chosen myself. Our furniture is like a Room and Board type style—clean lines, neutral colors. The lamp adds interest and color I think? The hall light I’m not sure about. We’re switching a lot of the fixtures to bronze. |
In the right setting, in the right home they’re classic. |
If you like it, it’s perfect. Doesn’t matter what others think. |
They’re “dated” to 100 years ago. |
I love them but apparently th y aren't I style anymore, so I am buying them used at a discount, yay! |
Yes. |
They're a little dated in a modern house, but one would look great, just for some visual interest. I love them, though and we have a few lamps, but we also live in an old craftsman home with dark woodwork. |
+1. I can’t think of any setting in today’s world where they look nice. |
My sister has an old house with olden times fixtures from the same period and it looks great! |
My, fancy that. You would have hated my grandmother's house. A beautiful modern sprawling mid-century ranch she and my grandfather built in the 1950s with floor to ceiling windows, cathedral ceilings, modernist clean lines, all light and airy, and filled with expensive antiques mixed up with modern pieces. Real Tiffany lamps are gorgeous and wonderful craftsmanship. Certainly not for everyone but to pretend that they have no place in today's world is just silliness. |
They look right in a craftsman style bungalow, which she said is what she bought. |
I think they are really pretty. |
Keep it, OP!
And then get a nice replacement for the boob light. |
Agree with this. They had a resurgence and that’s fading, but that doesn’t mean they are bad. I love them. I actually have one (it came with our house) and it’s beautiful. |
Definitely not in vogue right now. But I love them and I actually make them. |
