Do you ever look at something that’s Art Deco and think “ugh, dated?” I don’t.
I think some styles are timeless and Tiffany lamps are one of them. |
I like them as long as they're not toooooo fussy. Classic. |
It’s always a classic if it matches the style of the house. I’d keep it. |
+1. It's your house, who cares what anyone else thinks? |
No opinion on the look, but my parents had some growing up and I found they did not give off great light. So I'd be more concerned about function. |
I like tiffany style lamps, if you are in a craftsman style house, but I'm not a fan of this pic at all. I think the room and the light are ugly. |
I think with a lot of wood they look good. They also put off warm light which is nice for entertaining. |
+100 |
Yes, they're dated, but dated enough to be a neat vintage piece in a mix of styles and periods. I love them personally, at least the nice real Tiffany ones or mission style stained glass (I'm on the lookout in vintage stores near me but am so far just seeing more of a Pizza Hut vibe so far...no thanks). |
That’s not what I meant, I think they’re great. I just meant that “dated” is a silly concept for antiques. They’re supposed to be “dated.” |
Exactly! |
We have a couple of Tiffany style floor lamps in a light, airy open floor plan. The rest of the furniture in that room is more mid-century modern, but it still works together - at least I think so. The glass shade provide a bit of interest and depth |
their home doesnt seem modern |
