Brown is not Top 20 |
| I think Potomac simply had an off day. It happens. Another quarter or another day and who knows what would’ve happened. Same with most of these games this year, it seems. I think these two teams are pretty equal when all is said and done. |
| 100 percent agree with PP. Potomac was not the same team. |
| The Saints played a great game from start to finish. They were in control the entire time. Every time Potomac scored, they answered. Strong win for them. |
| Not at the game but I’m guess Saints handily won the draw matchup. Big wins usually equals winning lots of draws. |
| Brown has been consistently ranked around 21-23 all year. They were tied with #1 Notre Dane until the last 30 seconds and had chances to win. New coaching staff this year and the unrivaled education make Brown a very desirable location for lacrosse players (and 6% acceptance rate means that having a hook is like having a winning lottery ticket). Smart families play this game, not chasing a few dollars at inferior schools. |
| Notre Dame hasn’t received a #1 ranking all year. Brown’s website writeup says Notre Dame was #8 when the Bears lost that game. The OP put Brown lax in the same class as Northwestern, Michigan, Yale, Hopkins and others and listed it as a “top 20” program. That claim was incorrect. |
| Notre Dame is currently #1 in the USA Lacrosse, and I think they have been there for a few weeks but you can knock yourself out and try to prove me wrong. I think they ascended to that position by beating Brown by 1 goal and then a couple of days later beating BC, but knock yourself out and prove me wrong. Brown has been consistently been in the top 25 all season. Bottom line is that with new coaches, new facilities and a world class education, Brown is a fantastic option for smart lacrosse players. |

Takeaways: ND did not receive a #1 ranking in one poll by beating Brown. Brown is a fantastic school. Brown’s women’s lacrosse team has been ranked above 20 this year but has not broken the top 20. Brown is currently unranked. Brown lost to ND by one when ND was ranked #8 (per Brown’s website). Brown women’s lax is not in the same league as Northwestern, Yale, Michigan or Hopkins (which is how this thread started). Can we move on?

They are deep. First play of the JV game a girl throws in a behind the back. In a JV game. |
Thank you for the context |
| Notre Dame is #1 and has been since April 1, so you are wrong about that. And they reached that spot after completing a 4 game road trip that included a 1-goal win over Brown and a win over BC. “Methinks he doth protest too much.” Yes, Brown has not been competitive with top 10 or even top 20 teams but this year they clearly are with new coaches. |
One poll has had ND at #1 for several weeks. Every other poll hasn’t had them at #1. Not once. You can keep saying ND beating Brown helped ND get that #1 ranking in that one poll but no one believes you. |
| Yes, that is contrary to your statement that ND has never been #1. And it is true that they became #1 following a 4 game road trip that included wins over BC and Brown (by 1 goal). And you are looking foolish and petty for claiming otherwise. |
You both are aware there are two polls, the US Lax and the IWLCA/IL polls. You are both correct, you can stop now. |
