What's happened to the anti-Catholic guy on Mass Ave?

Anonymous
I don't think I've seen him for ages. Given all the latest scandals, I thought he'd be out there with a new sign ...

Anyone know?

I still see him all of the time - literally every day. Maybe you're just passing by at times that he's not there?

In fact, he was there yesterday, but he was surrounded by a bunch of women protesting the church's treatment of women.

He's still there.

Oh, thanks. He must be taking his break when I go by early afternoons (not rush hour). Glad he's okay.

He is still there. Also, I take objection to your referring to him at "anti-catholic". Protesting against pedophiles is not being anti-catholic.

I agree! Thanks

His sign hasn't gotten more elaborate and upscale so you may have missed him. I had to do a double take when I saw him earlier this week. (I hadn't gone that way at that time in quite awhile.) I was used to the homemade handwritten sign.

He has been doing this for at least 5 years. Does anyone know his story?

He was molested by a priest in Italy during his youth. They interviewed him during the Pope's visit to DC a few years ago.

He's an interesting character. There was a long article published about him a few years ago. If I recall correctly, he thinks he MAY have been molested as a child but has no actual memory of it. It's a feeling he has. The church offerred to pay for therapy but he turned it down and prefers to protest.

I am not saying the church is perfect - they have protected pedophiles for CENTURIES -and I am not even catholic - but I am not quite sure he's all there either.

Actually, his website looks pretty anti-Catholic to me. Yes, because of the hiding pedophiles issue, but he doesn't have many nice things to say about the Catholic church so that's why I called him "anti-Catholic".

Years ago, my husband dressed up as him for Halloween. We may well be going to hell.

Conceptually, you are right. In practice, not so much.

Why are these forums so anti Catholic? Anti Catholic education, church, anti-Catholic everything. It seems that the District is dominated by 3 types: waspy (Protestant)/Jewy/non-religious.
