NBCs Olympic coverage stinks

Anonymous
What is listed in the guide is not what is actually being shown, to many videos of graphic images (show us more competition!), not enough coverage of the events/competitions themselves (and yet some are shown twice - like today's Mexico/Japan soccer game) and way to much crap inbetween. 😡

Wish Bob Costas was still around!

Note the actual camera shots come from the Japanese hosts, not NBC camerapeople. NBC just provides their own commentary.

I got bored after 20 minutes.

NBC is always so bad at covering the Olympics. I feel like I’ve noticed it for years. I wish they would give the US TV contract to ABC and ESPN.

The Tonga Olympian with no shirt though..

They managed to show the entire men's gymnastics qualifying round without showing a single moment of Nikita Nagornyy. It was almost impressive. We got some random Egyptian guy on high bar, but any routine from the reigning Worlds champion? Nope.

Tonight they showed 14 year olds in the skate boarding competition. It honestly looked like kids just messing around with no sense of competition of heightened Olympic excitement. It was really boring.

If you have a way to access the Canadian Broadcasting Corp’s website (VPN) I recommend it. The same feed used by NBC but all accessible— some without commentary; some with Canadian commentary.

And so many commercials. The break about every 5 minutes.

Doesn’t Discovery TV have the rights to the Olympics or is that just abroad?

We liked the rowing, canoeing and kayaking coverage. We also liked the triathlon and biking. Handball was interesting.

We ignored the gymnastics and the skate boarding.

Too much of a time difference and coverage is spotty. Maybe the Paris Olympics will be more interesting.

Go to nbcolympics.com
It gives you the ability to watch live (and replays) of every single event. You have total control over which events you want to watch. Not at the mercy of network TV bouncing around to different stuff.
My family has been having a lot of fun. We are even watching on our big TV, but using the stream from the website rather than any of the NBC TV stations.

I’ll add Alica Schmidt and Alex Morgan (check out her SI Swimsuit Issue).
