Olympics 2021 Opening Ceremony

One of the most boring and depressing openings ever! And I had high hopes it would be great.

We watched it. It was very spare. Also parts were hard to see, in the lighting.

The Parade of Nations was good, even without spectators.

Agreed it was very spare. Honestly, I feel somewhat bad for Japan as the host country. I’m sure they were planning on putting on quite a show pre-COVID. Not to mention the influx of international athletes, trainers, and TV personnel during a global pandemic…

I missed it. Anyone know if they are rebroadcasting it? Or if it is On Demand or something?

I watched it on demand on Peacock, NBC’s streaming service. It cost $5/month but I’ll cancel it after the Olympics is over.

And I think you have more Olympic events to,watch, not just what is televised on TV.

Where can I watch the opening ceremony??

“Imagine” was a terrible song to feature.

It is the 2020 Olympics

Loved the Imagine feature.

It was a boring opening ceremony. It seemed very sparse. The space was so big, and the number of performers was so small. I didn’t expect a ceremony as large as China or London, but geez, it’s like they didn’t even try. I’ll admit the drones were awesome.

The pictograms were pretty cool. A few teams seemed very excited (PORT-U-GAL!), but otherwise everything seemed muted and sparse. Clearly Japan didn't want to spend any more money than absolutely necessary, and it showed.

I’m just glad that the shirtless flag bearer from Tonga is back

It was so depressing.

What a strange take.

The city is currently in lockdown. The show was distanced. It wasn't cheap.
