Trying to lose 10 pounds

Anonymous
My diet has always been pretty crap, honestly, but I'm trying to do better. I'm pretty naturally slim but it is definitely catching up with me. I think I'd feel better at about 10 pounds lighter than I am now. My biggest thing is my butt and legs - I feel like everything I eat skips my stomach and goes right to my thighs!

What should I be doing to lose 10 pounds and tighten that all up? Start running every day? Squats? Hill walking? Combo of everything? I am also working on my diet... slowly but surely.

If you weigh 135 with a crap diet, it should be super easy to lose weight. All you have to do is eat a little better. In terms of working out, I see the best results from weights and yoga.

Thank you! I've been looking into yoga so I think that'll be first on my list. And vegetables... lots of vegetables

Oh yeah, that makes a huge difference.
I’d keep a log of everything you eat for a week or two. If you bite it, write it. Just the act of doing that will likely help you cut out a lot of the foods you said you’ve sloppy about.
Up your intake of water.
Pick your exercise and go all out. Without kids, you have time. I see the best results with real weight lifting.

At age 30, it will come off quickly.

Thank you!! Really great ideas. I really do just need to commit, I'm always so wishy washy when it comes to working out.

OP, I was like you in that I could eat/drink whatever I wanted and stay thin until all of a sudden I couldn’t. I switched to eating healthier at the time solely for weight purposes, but in hindsight, the benefits for how I feel in general far surpasses any weight loss. Also, people who know me well over years said my skin improved.

I dropped 10 pounds very quickly without being hungry. This was a decade ago and since beginning this I’ve put the 10 pounds back on, but it is muscle from weights/barre and the “filling out” effects of just going from 30 to 40, so still happy with the results.
