| My parents want to take the extended family (8 adults and 7 kids ages 1-13) on a 2 week vacation to celebrate a milestone anniversary. We can pick anyplace but all have to agree. This will be a trip of a life time for us so we want to go big and go nice. What would you do? We are having a hard time thinking of someplace that is good for kids and adults. |
| Hawaii! Spend a week on one island and the second week on another. |
|
Dare I say....a cruise.
Some sort of an all inclusive-type of resort Sandals, Beaches, etc.in the Caribbean or Mexico |
| Two weeks is a very long time for an extended family trip. I also recommend a cruise, all inclusive resort, or a hotel with a meal plan. The ritz on St. Thomas is really nice and has a meal plan. They also have a kids club (or they used to). |
| Alaskan cruise, Galapagos, Tuscan villa |
|
That’s a lot of time together…
Hawaii? |
| Two weeks is a long time. I’d say Hawaii. I wouldn’t wanr to be the one with the 1 year old though. |
|
When are you going OP? Over the winter? Next year? Are your parents mobile and active?
Hawaii just eased their covid restrictions, but don't be surprised if they become difficult to travel to again in the future. Assuming your flying from the east coast, that is a super super long flight to Hawaii. I'd hate to be the family with the young kids doing that. And than adjusting to the time difference? |
| We’re going to Japan. Next summer. |
|
A large rented house in the Outer Banks
With a pool! |
| A huge beach house with a pool, All Inclusive or a nice Cruise. |
|
Hawaii
Jamaica - all inclusive Mexico - all inclusive |
|
Is there a budget?
I'd pick someplace where you can have a central home base, but let families explore in a way that is appropriate for their interests or ages of their children. Hawaii is a good idea. I'm not a cruise person but I can see how that might be attractive in this case. Lane Tahoe if you want domestic (lots of huge houses to rent, and activities for various ages). |
|
Cruise or all inclusive resort.
I wouldn't do a rented house with so many people, cooking and cleaning would be such a pain! |
Agree. And too much togetherness. |
