Tim's Gems - Gem Mining Party

Anonymous
Has anyone hosted or attended a gem mining party where he brings the trailer to your house? I am considering it for an 8 year old boy's party. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Never heard of this before but my DS8 would LOVE it.

My 10 y.o. just did gem mining at a different place, and he had a blast. No experience with Tim's, though.

What is gem mining? What do the kids do at the party?

NP but I know at the county fair there is a booth where they give you a bucket of dirt and you slowly empty it out and look for little polished rocks (or maybe a arrowhead) that have been seeded in it.

Just want to report back that everyone loved the party and Tim was wonderful. It was also a great price at $250 for 10 kids. Each kid got 2 buckets to mine full of nice sized gems and birthday kid got to break open a geode.

My teen would have loved this when she was younger. What a neat party idea.

How long was the gem mining part? I have an upcoming party with him and am not sure if the mining takes 10 minutes or like 45.

They came a few times to my DD's preschool when she went there, and the kids loved it.

He estimated 45 minutes to an hour and it took about an hour including watching my DS break the geode - he involved the other kids by counting how many strikes of the hammer it would take. These were 8 year olds mostly.

This sounds wonderful! My son would love it for his birthday! Would you recommend for a 6th birthday though? Or would that be too young?

Yes, we had 4 and 5 year olds in our group too. My son first experienced it in preschool. I was worried the older kids would find it boring or not cool, but everyone loved it!
