Tim's Gems - Gem Mining Party

We had two parties with Tim’s and the parties were fantastic. Highly recommend.

How long was the gem mining part? I have an upcoming party with him and am not sure if the mining takes 10 minutes or like 45.

He estimated 45 minutes to an hour and it took about an hour including watching my DS break the geode - he involved the other kids by counting how many strikes of the hammer it would take. These were 8 year olds mostly.

Perfect, this is an 8 yr old birthday party.

Do you think 9 year olds are too old for this? Also, is the trailer (?) heated? I'm considering this but it would be in December.

I think so. Does your child like gemstones? I got my DS one of those National Geographic dig kits as a gift once and he really loved it and thought all of the different rocks were so cool. At the Tim's Gems party, I was surprised that he got such nice gems including a 4x2ish amethyst and other decent sized stones. I forgot to mention that he boxes up each kid's gems in a nice gold paper box and puts their name on it and each kid also gets an arrowhead necklace and a sheet of paper identifying all of the stones. It really was a hit.

It should have heat as I was surprised that it had air conditioning. I would ask to be safe.

My son’s camp had Tim’s mobile gem mine for the day and it was so cool. My 4 year old son loves it! He got take home all the rocks along with a guide. Really cool and unique thing to do.

Yeah what a bummer! My first reaction seeing this post title was that my DS would love this! We recently did it at a museum.

I made plaster of Paris bricks that I seeded with gems for my kids Minecraft-themed party and it was a big hit. You're telling me I could make a business out of that??
