What are your 1yos favorite books?

My nephew LOVES books, so I'd like to buy him one as part of his first birthday present. Bonus points for anything less ubiquitous than the Boynton ones.

He's a fan of the Lllama series, so anything rhymey would probably be a hit.

Thanks!

Press here. So fun.

(Although it’s really popular so of course you’d want to make sure they don’t already have it)

My son is 17 months and current and recent obsessions (he tends to fixate on a book or two and make you read them 1000 times a day for a month) are:

Agate
Bum Bum
Corduroy
Parker Looks Up (this set in DC, so added bonus!)
Little Blue Truck Leads the Way
Doggies (that's a Boyton though)
Hats of Faith
We're Different, We're the Same

- the Alphaprints series. My kid adores 1, 2, 3.
-Similar to Press Here would be Bunny Slopes.
-The Bright and Early Board Books (mostly Dr. Suess and P. D. Eastman, so very popular) are great.
-Ten Black Dots

You can't find these in board books, but they are good for that age if paper tearing isn't so much of a concern (adult only reading):

-Turtle Splash
-Peep Leap

Jamberry
There's a Monster in Your Book (this one is awesome)

Barnyard Banter. I read this book probably 700 times. My 4 year old still wants me to read it sometimes!

At 1, DD's favorites were Big Red Barn and Goodnight Gorilla. Not a lot of words in Goodnight Gorilla, but the pictures are vivid and the story line is clear. It was the first book that made her laugh. Oh and Little Blue Truck.

Thanks, all, there are some great options here. And you've reminded me that he might not have Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site yet, which my son LOVED when he was small.

Little Blue Truck, Digger Dozer Dumper, Little Excavator... Obviously a kid who loves trucks.

Oh and Where the Wild Things Are. Can't believe I forgot that one considering how many times I've read it in the past two months...

The Karen Katz lift-a-flap books. "Where is Baby's Belly Button?" etc. I find them annoying but she loved them at that age and still does at almost 2.

My daughter loved "Everywhere Babies". We still read it at 4. We've given it to many friends and their kids love it as well.
