I am unsure if I want to finance a college education if he will come out with only a B.A. in some liberal arts discipline. I'd hate the thought of him suffering with unemployment and a low paid career.
What do you think? |
| You do you, OP. |
| One of my kids DID study liberal arts. She's very well-rounded. |
| Smart kids get hired OP, even art history majors. Just make sure he lands some good internships |
| What major is he thinking about? And yes you should encourage your children to follow what they are passionate about. |

“Let?”
I just hired a communications major for an $80K job, her first full-time, professional job out of college. She got her degree at a state school. She had actual writing clips and professional video samples. She had hustled. She didn’t wait around until after her degree to start building her portfolio. |

Dollars to donuts OP doesn’t even know what a liberal arts education is.
My husband has a liberal arts degree (math) as do I (English) and let’s just say with our combined HHI we comfortably pay our two kids’ full tuitions at their liberal arts colleges (and we have no family money). |
| Just supplement with a technical minor. Also, excellent writing skills are always in demand. |
|
No - because he gets to decide, I'm not "letting" him study anything.
But I will encourage him to study liberal arts, and I hope he listens. --Liberal Arts Ph.D. |
Lots of practical applications with this degree, OP. Strange that wouldn’t occur to you. |
Same in our family. |
| Guys, this is not a real question from a real poster. |
| Yes, I would - I am a liberal arts major who went to law school. |
Same. My liberal arts education has served me well. |
