Genevieve and Grace for twin girls?

Anonymous
We are expecting twin girls and are thinking about Genevieve and Grace for the first names. We’d probably do a shorter and a longer middle name, maybe Genevieve Faith and Grace Josephine or something like that. I’d love thoughts about whether these names go together or what else you’d suggest? Picking names is fun so I’m open to any suggestions We’d like the girls to each have a saint’s name (first or middle), which is how we got to these, but not a requirement. Thanks!

I really love both of those names, and the fact that they have different initial sounds and syllable lengths helps, but I'm not a big fan of matching initials for twins.

Could you do Genevieve Grace and Faith Josephine? I think I like Faith even more than Grace as a first name.

Sounds great. Though I'd consider names that start with different letters. Twins get compared a LOT. Making the names easier to distinguish would be my priority.

So maybe Grace and Josephine or Faith and Genevieve.

I don't love them together tbh. With the middle names they sound better, but how often will the middle names be used?

Genevieve & Josephine seem more like a pair
(but Grace & Faith would not be good - too cutesy)

I agree with this PP. Genevieve Grace and Josephine Faith (or Genevieve Faith and Josephine Grace) are really nice. Similar in style of different from each other. Congrats!

I also think doing similar length names is nice because then they both have nickname potential. With Genevieve and Grace, Genevieve will get nicknames and Grace won't and I know it seems silly but that kind of thing can become SO important to little kids. Genevieve and Josephine are kind of perfect because they have very similar nn options.

Gracie is a nick name. I also taught a Gracie nicknamed GiGi.

I love Grace and Genevieve. Yes, they both start with the same letter, but with different letter sounds, plus different number of syllables, it is fine. Super cute. Love the middle names you chose, too.

I hear what the pp's are saying, but I have identical twins, and yes, they are compared all the time, but making everything about them completely opposite in every possible way is just as obvious as making them match too much. Your names are perfect, and beautiful choices, too.

I think different initials would be nice -- and handy for you when you're labeling!

I think starting both with the same letter is risky in that people will mix them up and not remember who is who. (Most middle aged people are losing it, remember).

Cute names but I would do different first letters.

I don't like Grace. It doesn't seem to match with Genevieve. Genevieve and Josephine go together more.

Twin parent here. I really love both of those names! And if you love them, you should go for it.

But - I might caution against two with the same letter, especially since they're the same sex. Hard to initial things, hard for others to remember names, etc.

I wouldn't be concerned about one with a longer name and possible nickname vs. one with a shorter name. Mine have that and it's not been an issue, though my long-name one typically goes by the nickname.

I like it because 1 G is “soft” (Genevieve) and Grace is “hard” so it is not too matchy. Have you considered “Gemma & Grace.” ??

I have a Genevieve and we continue to adore the name. I agree that Josephine is a better match with Genevieve. So many cute nicknames: Josie, Jojo, Jo, etc.
