I've been getting "sorry to hear you're having trouble logging in" emails often. Normally I would think it's some sort of hacker, but I have a few reasons to think it could be my ex this time.
Facebook has an option to see log-ins with IP address and location, etc. So I was wondering if there's something similar for Instagram? I looked around on the app and the site on an actual computer and didn't see anything, but I may be missing something, or there might be a trick? I have the two-factor authentication enabled, so I do know for sure whoever it is has not been able to get in my account. So that would complicate things, right? I don't know what I would gain seeing if it could be him. Just genuinely bothered and curious I guess. |
I've been getting them too and have no vengeful ex. Probably related to a security breach. |
Thanks for your response!
That's what I initially thought, but there are some weird things that make me think it could be him. I guess if I could see that it wasn't a local IP, that would help. |

I get them a lot too. Make sure you have two factor login set up! |
^ That's through the app. It only shows devices logged into your account, not people who attempted to log in. |
I have had this problem for the last 2 months (even started a thread about it in May). The emails wouldn’t stop and increased in frequency (several an hour, one night I got 20 overnight). I changed my password several times and it still occurred. Only way to get them to stop was to change my username. |
I've gotten this same instagram "sorry you had trouble logging in" email like 5x in the past month. Definitely an Instagram problem going on. |
Just received the same email today. |
I have gotten several this week. Weird. |
Oh, I just received this email today, too! So weird because I never go on instagram and almost never go on facebook. |
I just received this message today, and have received a few others in the last month. I changed my password and turned on 2 person authentication. I too would like to see who attempted to log in. The suggestion from the above poster will only show you where you are actually logged in. This email indicates the person was not successful in logging in. |
+1 |
I get these emails sometimes and I don’t even use my account so I have to assume it is hackers. I don’t have any content for anyone I know personally to try to access. |
I was sick of getting these emails and don’t use Instagram much, so I deleted my account this morning. |
