OP here
Thank you all for your responses! Guess it's safe to assume it's a security breach of some sort and not my ex - good news! I'll just keep and eye on it |
change ALL your passwords asap |
Are you sure the emails are coming from Instagram vs an outside phishing attempt? Don't click any links! |
I get these emails too. I have no idea why. I assumed it was my kid messing with something. I feel safe because I have 2FA turned on and I don’t reuse passwords. So my IG password isn’t even the same as my email password. |
This. |
Definitely use 2-factor authentication wherever you can. I stopped a handful of login attempts onto my iTunes account from a bunch of places - China, Russia, Mexico. I kept having to change my iTunes password but the attempts stopped about a year ago. |
Make sure that are going to use a strong password |
This happened to me when my original username was the first part of my email address. I changed it to and have the account set to hide my email address from others and the problem has not recurred. |
I tried this too but it didn’t work until my best friend introduced a tech guy to me “Olekhackx” on instagram
To my surprise, he recovered my account without even asking for my information. He's a great, thanks for sharing your skills. |
