| I want to start IF. Is 16 hours fasting a good start to see results? |
I had to tighten it up to 18 to accommodate some snacking Without the snacking 16 would be fine for me. I’ve lost 20 lbs in 6 months.

I saw results with a (mostly) 16:8 window (sometimes I had breakfast a little early or dinner a little late). I didn't skip breakfast, eliminate snacks, or count calories, but I did cut out processed foods and almost all added sugar.
I lost about 40-45 pounds (and I'm having no problem keeping that off despite eating whenever I feel hungry- cutting out the bad foods was what really made the difference). |

There is nothing magical about IF.
The reason it works is because people eat less when given less opportunities to eat. If you're just going to cram all of your usual caloric intake into the shorter window of opportunity, it won't do a damn thing. It will work if you actually eat less. Eating less is the magic. |
| Start with whatever you can do consistently. If that's 14:10, then start there and increase the fast when you feel comfortable. If you can jump right in at 16:8 then do that. |
