A tale of two halves/teams v Mexico.
Tobin HEath still has it.
Vlatko recognizes Morgan & Rapinoe have aged out of their pace, agility, and quality.
Morgan is best at glaring now. Rapinoe putting corners into the side netting and direct kicks over the box, which was her last redeeming quality given her awful pace.
Watching Rap shield and dribble back from 25 yards inside offensive half back to center was just sad, she cant even escape pressure going away from it.

Team should still win but Morgan and Rap have taken spots away that are not deserved based on current play. Have to wonder whether Vlatko is spineless or decisions are made above him.

I could not agree more.

Rapinoe cannot beat anyone 1 v 1 right now. Maybe an issue that conditioning, and reduced minutes, can buy her a last month of spark. Really there is no where for her to play: she cant overlap as a back or mid because of speed (and effort); she can't cover mid or middle because of low work rate; she cant break away on the wing; het set pieces are off now. And Morgan or Lloyd have claim to the position of "old experienced player at striker as homage to past glory".
Maybe Vlatko will play Lloyd/Morgan/Rapinoe all at 10 as a diversion.

Will update future scores with domestic information. When USWNT won the WWC in 2015, they beat Japan on the final.

Japan didn’t have a solvent domestic women’s league that year.

Women’s soccer is in such a state that USWNT puts a striker in at left back

Yep how much money did that cost her? I would much rather see Dunn take MR spot. Dunn’s would open things up and she plays better with Press, Lavelle and others. Right now Dunn is there to cover for MR. The team plays so much better when they go young.

Do you seriously want to compare how much more the American people invest in girls’ sports compared to the rest of the world?

We literally just have more female athletes than other counties. That’s why USWNT wins

I would like to see them change formation and really apply the pressure.

Glass cannon formation
2-3-5

Dahlkemper - Sauerbrunn
Williams - Horan - Dunn
Heath - Macario - S Mewis - Lavelle - Press

3-3-4
Dahlkemper - Horan - Sauerbrunn
Williams - S Mewis - Dunn
Heath - Marcario - Lavelle - Press
