Did Renewal by Anderson give you the run around? Why so hard to find a window replacement company?

Anonymous
Please help to find a good reasonable window replacement company. Renewal by Anderson giving us 12k estimate for 3 windows!!! (2 are double hung) then trying to go down to 8900. Crazy prices make no sense going down by 4k. Is there any company other there that don't give you a run around and good replacement of windows (these are just vinyl windows - nothing special).

Where are you? We used NoVA Exteriors (originally for a door, but we were so happy we got windows later from them). I don't recall what brand we bought but they were good solid windows at a reasonable price.

Windows on Washington. Anderson is a total scam living off old reputation.

You need a moderately sized, local company.

We got Pella through our contractor, but insurance was paying for most of them.

We just had Renewal By Andersen windows put in and they are beautiful. The installation was great and we are really happy with how the windows changed the look of our house.

Window Universe - no BS pricing.

I got estimates from eight or ten companies. Some I got estimates based on recommendations here. Windows on Washington charges an S ton of money. The salesman was wearing a giant Rolex paid for by inflated prices. Nova Exteriors was also very expensive. I didn't bother with Renewal by Andersen because I knew their reputation for being high pressure sales (same with Thompson Creek). After a getting many estimates, I can honestly say the best prices were Window Universe (they don't have many recent good Yelp review though so we didn't use them), Winfield Builders, and Zen Windows. I suggest getting estimates from those three and picking the one you like best.

We ended up having Lowe's replace existing vinyl with (so-called) "new construction" type fiberglass windows that were the same size. Overall cost (parts + labor) was about the same as the "insert" "replacement-type windows. Benefit is more light inside.

Does NoVA exteriors come to MD and DC?

NP- we used American Home Centers for our windows. No aggressive salesman, we were very pleased. GL
