I know official results have r come out yet, but many kids were told their scores right after the test, So for those of you who already know, did your kid get a 400 or higher? Also, do you know if the teacher was able to finish the curriculum before the tests? |
OP here. I should probably answer this question myself. I have a 9th grader who took two SOL’s. The scores she was given right after testing were in the low 400’s. Typically she scores above a 500 on SOL tests. She also put a lot of effort into the test and was the last person in the room to finish the tests on both days. I don’t know whether her teachers had completed the curriculum.

Also, she was virtual only practically the whole year. Towards the very end she started attending 2x a week. |
9th grader: low 400s for biology, low 500s for geometry.
I expected these scores to be reversed. |
Yes, pass advanced. |
Yes both kids passed their SOLs, HS and MS |
You seem shocked your child had a subpar education this year. Who could have predicted that 🤷♀️ |
Three kids in upper ES, all virtual this year by choice. Everyone took Reading and Math SOLs. All three kids passed, including two pass advanced. |
My understanding is that the school notifies the parents ASAP if the child fails, so I'm assuming he passed. DS is in middle school and we don't have the scores just yet, but he told me that both the science and the math tests had material not covered in class. English was much much easier than he expected. |
Quite the opposite. I was actually surprised that my daughter scored above a 400 and am rather shocked that so many kids passed. I would have expected scores to be much worse. |
Yes, all three kids passed all of the tests they took. Scores were high across the board. It validated for us that our kids had a great experience this year with DL and their teachers were amazing. |
+1 I just posted. I knew our kids were on pace with prior years because we kept all of the older kids' materials. Still it was quite validating to see how well our kids did and then also hear anecdotally how well their classmates did. It confirmed what we've been seeing all year. Honestly, our kids had about 1/2 the class time of their older sibs but did much better on the tests. I think the teachers were really able to teach without all the kids with behavior problems disrupting class and taking all of the attention. Anyway we were not surprised at all by their scores. |
My middle schooler was told that he passed and his geometry score was lower than I expected (like 470, I expected pass advanced because he’s gotten straight A’s all year). But I don’t really care because the lass is what matters.
APS elementaries have not shared scores as far as I know. What APS elementary is the person who said they know at? I’m an APS elem teacher and we definitely are not sharing any scores yet, pass or fail. We only share the fails for retakes and there were none this year. |
Okay, I’ll be the outlier. My 5th grader barely passed reading and science, and he’s usually gets really high scores. He did a high pass in math, but we hired a tutor for him when we saw the results of his practice math test. He has ADHD and the DL was really rough on him. It was a shock to him to score so low!! |
I posted above. Our kids have their scores. We're not APS. It was an informal notification on post-its or verbal for most of our kids. The reports will come with report cards usually. |
