OP here. I should probably answer this question myself. I have a 9th grader who took two SOL’s. The scores she was given right after testing were in the low 400’s. Typically she scores above a 500 on SOL tests. She also put a lot of effort into the test and was the last person in the room to finish the tests on both days. I don’t know whether her teachers had completed the curriculum.
You seem shocked your child had a subpar education this year. Who could have predicted that 🤷♀️
Quite the opposite. I was actually surprised that my daughter scored above a 400 and am rather shocked that so many kids passed. I would have expected scores to be much worse.
+1 I just posted. I knew our kids were on pace with prior years because we kept all of the older kids' materials. Still it was quite validating to see how well our kids did and then also hear anecdotally how well their classmates did. It confirmed what we've been seeing all year. Honestly, our kids had about 1/2 the class time of their older sibs but did much better on the tests. I think the teachers were really able to teach without all the kids with behavior problems disrupting class and taking all of the attention. Anyway we were not surprised at all by their scores.
