Can plastic surgeons tell who got surgery just by looking at them?

If it's botched, or out of proportion for the rest of their body, or if they're the spitting image of a family member except for say, a huge nose or something.

Absolutely, because plastic surgeons understand facial anatomy and bone structure - and what's natural or not.

Hmm, I wonder. I had lipo on my chin but there is literally no scar nor indication that I have had anything done. It looks completely natural. I would be stunned if a plastic surgeon could tell just by looking at me.

My MIL isn't even a plastic surgeon but is a long-time manager of a plastic surgery practice and she can tell immediately.

I would think lots of plastic surgeons or people who work in their offices are very good at plastic surgery and are often right, but that for every obvious case they spot/are right about, there is a less obvious case they don't flag. So...better than average?

Yes, just like a gynecologist can tell by your cervix if you have ever given birth or had an abortion.

I have a friend who can always spot nose jobs. She comes a family of nose jobs. Once she told me the tricks, they are pretty easy to spot.

I think it would depend on what was done. I've had my nose worked on twice for a deviated septum and then again for the same thing because my nose was broken. I've talked with plastic surgeons about doing it a third time (nose was broken again) and the surgeon said yes until he heard my history and looked inside my nose. When looking at my face he could not tell I had prior surgery.

Tummy tuck in a bikini- yes. The belly button and overall tautness that doesn’t correlate with rest of body/shape is a dead giveaway.

Nose job, most of the time.

They don’t. I asked my gyno about this and she said it’s not the case.

I think basic surgeries, yes. There was a video by The Cut in which a plastic surgeon looked at people and guessed whether or not they’d had surgery and what it was. He clearly guessed a few more than he let on (there was a transwoman he didn’t out, even though she was obviously a transwoman, for instance). I think generally, yeah.

Do you mind sharing what happened that you broke your nose twice (or more?)?
