If your 2 yo wakes up super fussy and congested do you send them to daycare?

Just curious, we did not this time, but wondering what other people do. FWIW congestion is not considered a Covid symptom and daycare does not require exclusion for that.

If he’s unusually fussy? No.

I sent DD when she had a stuffy nose but clear mucus. We used Nose Frida and she was okay. Daycare only excludes for green snot. When she’s fussy though it’s usually a sign she’s about to come down with something so I wouldn’t send her on such days.

Maybe 2 years ago, but these days no. We have a kid in private school where you do have to stay home with congestion symptoms until a negative covid test is provided. So if you send a kid with a cold to school and they spread it, you may be putting an undue burden on other families.

I have sent her with a stuffy nose after I received a negative covid test. If it happened after I was vaccinated, I would not test and assume it's a cold. Enjoy school!

My daycare wpuld send them home for that and require a COVID test, so no.

Our daycare is being really strict so I probably wouldn't send because they would just call me to pick DC up in an hour.

No. We keep him home.

And please don’t send your child to daycare with a beginning cold, parents. Please think about the other kids and their families.

I keep her home the first day to make sure it's not going to turn into something worse. If it continues to be just congestion or clear runny nose, I send her. She has allergies and these aren't exclusion symptoms at our center.

This. Please don't be that parent, OP. Our daycare says no coming back until 48 hours without symptoms and we take that seriously.

Every cold or virus in the times of COVID is a minimum of one week out. Sucks because she still gets a nasty bug every 2 to 3 weeks like clockwork.

This is why my kids don't go to daycare. Such low class parents who will send their sick kids to infect other children instead of keeping their sick children home.

This makes no sense- your kid could get COVID from daycare, right?

Have fun when your kid starts school! You can't insulate your kid forever

PP here, yes I actually question my decision a lot lately but don't want to start a different arrangement in a pandemic and we love her school.

Thanks for being so supportive and compassionate! I bet your kid is having a great time in whatever bubble you are keeping them
