APS - Funding

Is anyone else curious what APS did with all the federal funds that were intended to get kids back IN school this past year? Free lunch for all? Duran's fancy car?

Where is the accountability? Duran and the SB should be held responsible for the complete mishandling of our kids' education. There are also ZERO reasons we have been stuck with 2 days/week in person.

If this was a corporate business, they would all be fired. So fed up with this administration.

The free lunches were a USDA waiver. Duran’s car is part of his overall compensation package. Have you looked at the budget documents on board docs or are you just coming on here to stir more anti-APS sh!t?

DP I was aware of the existing budget sources for those things. But I share OP's curiosity about how APS spent the COVID relief funds for schools. I haven't heard or seen anything about how they've used that money; so I'd like to know, too.

Dude, the reason Murphy sucked had nothing to do with his background. There are some great “gym” teachers out there that would do a way better job.

Off the top of my head- Food & Nutrition services provided lunch at no cost to all hybrid students. CoVID leave for staff. HEPA filters and cleaning supplies. The use of Extended Day staff did temperature checks, etc., when their pay is usually offset by extended day. There were certainly technology expenses too, I’d think.

The school board are practically volunteers, in my book. They get a stick of gum to deal with you.

No, I do not live under a rock. Arlington is hardly a "major school system"; it is the smallest county in the US. But you have just proved the point. This is the equivalent of corporate boards setting a CEO's salary based on what other CEOs make rather than value-added. Arlington spends stupid-money on stupid-things to pretend it is "world-class." And, meanwhile, our children receive no education.

Arlington county is 230k people and 28k students; Howard County is 350k and 50k students. By population Arlington is a large school district and county but small geographically. By your geographic measure, Jacksonville should be our shining city on the hill.
