I had an average sized baby girl two years ago - 7lb 7oz. And now 39 weeks pregnant with a boy. Scans suggested he’s measuring average (53rd). But my bump looks smaller than last time, and provider commented that there’s still a lot of amniotic fluid in there, which makes me think he could be smaller than my daughter.
Has anyone had a small second baby? Especially a boy after a girl (I understand boys are generally larger). Were there any problems with baby? |
| I had a smaller second baby, but he was 10’ 3”. I guess it is all relative. |
| A pound smaller. But he was also born before his due date and his sib was 10 days late. Both babies were fine. |
| Yes, a lb smaller. She had IUGR. |
Exactly same as for me. |
| I had a smaller boy after an 8 lb girl. And he gestated longer so I was certainly surprised! |
| My first was a week late and 7lbs6oz; my 2nd was also a week late but a pound smaller. Likely mild IUGR. |

Yes. No problems. The first was three weeks overdue. |
| Another yes. My first was 3 days early while my second was 3 weeks early. Both between 7 and 8 pounds. |
| they were the same size at birth, but my second stopped growing for a while at about a year and we still don't know why. she is a head shorter than most of her peers in school - she's finishing 1st grade today. |
| Yes, but younger son cooked for 6 days less and the difference was only 4oz. |

Yes.
DD was 8.5lbs at 39 weeks DS was 7.5lbs at 39 weeks DD was a 27 hour induction though, and we think she may have been bloated due to all the fluids I was on. Prior to that she'd been measuring on the small side, and I'd gained under 15lbs. DS, on the other hand, was out in under 6 hours. |
| My second was a couple ounces bigger (but on her due date, first was early) but my third was over a pound smaller than my first two at 40w5d |
