"Right to Life" Catholic University Hypocrites

Anonymous
As a Catholic, I am truly outraged they are the only university in DC not to require students get vaxed. And, CU is located in the highest rate area of Covid cases in DC. Guess "right to life" only applies to whites + hypothetical unborns. Disgusting. These dumb CU students will come from Trump country + infect innocent blacks here in DC.

"Right to life" is complete BS. All they are is pro-pregnancy. They don't care about the mom's life, they don't care about the kid's life after he's born. And heaven help ya if you want to talk about reducing the numbers of pregnancies (and thus also the number of abortions) in the first place through birth control. One of the most successful measures in the nation at reducing abortions was Colorado's program to make free birth control available. Worked FAR better than anything the so-called "pro lifers" ever came up with. They need to just shut up and step aside.

As of May 31 these were the colleges in DC that required vaccination (please note the other Catholic college here). And many are encouraging but not mandating staff vaccination.

WASHINGTON, D.C.: American University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, Trinity Washington University

Well, to return the thread to OP’s actual point and not cons trying to change the subject from a valid point, once again the forced birthers show that it’s not about life.

Since international variants spread with relative ease these days, it’s worth noting that the Brazilian variant is killing pregnant women and their fetuses and newborns. Isn’t this the group that the forced birthers obsess over and they can’t even get their ish together to protect them?

Georgetown is Jesuit, isn’t it? I’m not on board with any Catholic institution, but of them, the Jesuits seem to take learning and rigorous thinking seriously.

For PP- Georgetown is a Jesuit institution. Trinity Washington is another Catholic University.

To address your concerns, lest someone think your post was for Catholic bashing:

Go get vaccinated. DC is literally knocking on doors to get all people in CUA's neighborhood to get a vaccine. Problem solved

How does this solve the problem? It’s not like DC can compel people to get the vaccine, so it falls to employers and institutions of learning to require them as a condition.

It’s such a small ask and for a group that prides itself, allegedly, on caring for life, it should be a no brainer.

X 1000000

Not to mention death penalty that many support (or at least do not speak out on/demand an end to) and various other programs to help people that are opposed by the "right to life" crowd. The whole thing is a sham.

What does Trump have to do with the failure of Blacks in DC to get vaccinated? Nothing. Obese people account for 78% of Covid hospitalizations. That is the bigger concern.

Further - many, many hospitals have health workers who don't want to get vaccinated - nor are they required to do so. Shall we point fingers at them and accuse of spreading Covid> Seems more dangerous than unvaccinated college students.

And - Very few employers at this stage require vaccines - not sure why one university should be any different than other employers.

Bull on this point. I work for the DC government and they’re not requiring vaccinations before we are forced to return to the office in July. So no, “DC” isn’t forced to rely on employers and schools.

When people miss my point this thoroughly, it says to me that I need to work on my writing.
