| So confused. Looks working class but Kennett Square, Haverford etc are posh |
|
Wondering this myself
Because Haverford is on the main line and basically surrounded by pricey neighborhoods. But curious what others think |
| Pottsville, PA |
| In one episode they mention Conshohocken which is nicer than the town on the show but still feels blue collar. |
|
The writer grew up in Berwyn, his wife in Aston, and they have family in Drexel Hill and Springfield. This article says the filming was done in Delaware County: Wissahickon Valley Park, Roxborough and Boothwyn. Good question. All kind of posh, right?

| Just pick your favorite rundown DelCo town |
Is downingtown nice |
|
Delco. (Aka Delaware County)
Aston, Drexel Hill, Upper Darby Mainline adjacent but not as wealthy. Sake area as Silver Linings Playbook I sort of assumed it was pulled from the Easttown in trydiferin-easttown school district, but there’s really not an “easttown” that anyone talks about in real life. |
Grow up near Drexel hill but it doesn’t look anything like the show, landscape wise. |
|
Havertown
Upper Darby |
|
It's not any one town. I guess "inspired by" Havertown, Upper Darby, Aston. I live in the area and it's not a faithful representation of life here , thank God.
The Haverford College in the show looks nothing like Haverford College either. The woods where the kids hang is a popular walking/biking trail in the city of Philadephia (Wissahickon). |
|
Isn’t it a real place?

Do you mean Pottstown? Pottsville is not in that part of the state. |
There is an Easttown in suburban Phileadelphia, but the place shown in the show is clearly not that place. Easttown township (which I have never heard anyone refer to as Easttown -- people would typically say "TE" referrign to the school district) is a lovely, rural/suburban, bucolic, rolling hill kind of place. It's in Chester County, not in Delco, where the show is supposed to be set. The show borrowed the name but it's meaningless. |
| My husband is from Havertown. He has tons of cousins and it has exactly this vibe. The only thing missing is lack of hoagies and no one is talking about down the shore. Otherwise I feel like I know these people. |
