What are your day care’s current covid hours? I’m ready for my spot to return to more normal hours. |
8-5. I started during COVID, so I don't have experience with regular hours but the 5PM close is rough because I have to leave work at 4 (if in the office) or 4:30 (if home) to make sure I get there in time which can be disruptive to scheduling/meetings. |
8:30 - 4. The 4 pm pick up is killer. They have near-term plans to expand to 8:30 - 4:30. I don't want to go elsewhere, but i'm looking. |
I posted about this before. We pressured our daycare to gradually open back to full hours. Thank God. |
We’re at 8:30-5:20 now but they were 7:30-6 before. |
7-5:30, they added half an hour in the morning. It's fine, we don't use all the hours. |
How large is your daycare? |
8 am to 6 pm. Or maybe 7 am. I am not an early person so I don’t know.
Two primary classes and one toddler class. Montessori in Silver Spring outside the beltway. |
Ours is a big center, so there are a few different shifts. We are on 7:45-4:30. Fine for working virtually, but pretty tough when you factor in commuting. Also very ready to return to more normal hours! |
830-5 but returning to 7-6 in September. |
Home daycare in Silver Spring. We are going back to full hours on June 1. |
Same with ours, except the current hours are 8:30-5:30. |
I wish a shortened day would continue post-COVID as employers allowed for more W@H. 8:30 - 3:30 seems so much more civilized and wholesome compared to the 12-hour day for little ones -- and teachers and admins, too. |
What's stopping you from picking your kid early? ![]() |
home day care 12 kids. During COVID was 8:30-4:30. We almost left but changed to 8-5:30 for summer and Sept 1st back to 7:30-6. It helped to talk to other parents and get a gist that everyone was unhappy and we collectively placed pressure to reopen. |
