Are you in Md, DC, or Va? I haven’t seen many DC ones open back up. I’m at Two Birds in Tenleytown and have been disappointed by their hours.

Lol, this poster clearly missed the thread in the jobs forum where everyone was yelling at working parents to figure out full-time childcare ASAP because “it’s not your employer’s problem,” and school “isn’t a childcare solution.”

Our daycare just announced that they are going to start opening at 7:30 🙌🙌🙌

This isn’t as good as when they opened at 7, but it’s a huge improvement from 8. Nature is healing.

Our daycare was doing 7:30-5:30 last summer and in March started doing 7-5:30. Pre-pandemic they were 6:30-6:30. In MoCo.

Fairfax County, our school is going back to normal hours (6:30-6:30) at the end of the month. Currently we're at 7:30 to 5:30, which hasn't been too bad. There have only been a handful of times that I was rushing to get there in time. It'll be nice to have a bit more breathing room for the times I need to run a quick errand after work.

All of you with normal or close to normal hours are you in DC? Our daycare used to be 7-6 but is currently 8:30-4:30 and I’ve called other daycares and spoken to friends and colleagues and most seem to be shortened hours in DC.

My DH shifted his hours to keep our DC in daycare for as few hours as possible (in normal times it was 9:00-4:00). But my job is pretty inflexible and we did need daycare some days before 9 am and after 4 pm given meetings, events, travel, etc. If our current daycare keeps their hours then if my DH ever has to be physically at a morning meeting I will have to take time off work because daycare opens after I have to be at my job.

My kids are currently in a DC daycare near work, but they’re keeping a late opening in the fall so we might jump to burb daycare.
