This story is crazy but even crazier that the police have no suspects yet.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/maserati-driver-caught-on-camera-shooting-at-car-in-dc-road-rage-incident/ar-AAKp35C?ocid=msedgntp From an investigation standpoint, the number of registered Maserati's in the DMV must be smaller than the number of typical road rage with gunfire incidents. Also the suspect firmly placed his hand on the rear quarter panel/spoiler on the victim's car. There must be a recoverable fingerprint there. The Eastern Ave area must have other traffic cams on it which must have recorded a better fidelity image of the license plate.

| I bet hes a Diplomat and already gone. Looks Russian or Suadi. |
Maybe, but the police should still be able to identify. Not being able to make an arrest is one thing, but not being able to identify is unacceptable. The way he fired, it looks like he has traininh and is not a gang banger. Or maybe a gang banger with training. |
Looks like a Masseratti coupe? How hard can a car like that be to identify through database searches. Could not be more than a few dozen registered in the area. DC police are just simply lazy and incompetent. Fully incapable of solving crimes. |
Every thing that you point out absolutely should provide police with enough leads to identify persons of interest. Instead it appears the sum total of their investigation is to put a video on social media and sit back and wait for someone to tell them who it is. |
| There is a crazy statement in the linked article that there was a road rage murder on Mass Ave across from the VPs residence with no leads. How can that be possible? |
Very few Secret Service there now as the current VP is not living at the observatory while it is remodeled. Apparently DC traffic cameras and license plate readers do not actually record traffic or read license plates. And there is genuinely no ability to "go back in time" and search for a vehicle. Sounds insane, but apparently the city purchased the bargain basement set up. |
| Post article, though it doesn't add much: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/road-rage-washington-shooting/2021/05/26/d34a0958-be2a-11eb-9c90-731aff7d9a0d_story.html |

Hold on...
So this was just witnessed. The victim never reported anything? Very strange.
|
She moved into the Observatory back in April. |
That needs to be fixed. DC should approach Congress, DHS, etc for funds to build that capacity out. Especially after the recent attack on the Capitol, threats toward members of Congress etc. There has to be a way to capture and store some number of days worth of data from various feeds and to be able to use it to identify threats. |
I'm telling you, this has Russi written all over it. They will handle it themselves. They will not involve MPD. |
Welcome to Bowser's DC! |
But would MPD cover up their identification? |
