I find the relative media silence on this incident perplexing. There just AREN'T that many maseratis in the DMV that this guy couldn't be identified easily. And he got out of his car and started firing into traffic. This is insane.

The average DC cop makes about $130k/yr with overtime. Some are clearing more than $250k. You can definitely afford a 201-something Maserati at that income level. We’re only talking about a $60-$70k car, used.

And you can rent or lease one too.

It got covered when it happened. There have been no developments since then. No one was shot or killed.

In case you haven’t noticed, there are plenty of shootings where people HAVE been wounded or killed.

Excellent justification for MPDs low solve rate. So why can’t they solve crimes where people are shot and killed then?

The shooter has been identified. Kenneth Miles Davies, 42, of Lanham, MD. The police have impounded the car.

He already had two previous gun charges which were misdemeanors and a felony drug distribution charge.

Yes, the fantastic stories concocted here (Russian, Saudi diplomat, cop or ex-cop) were not reality, unsurprisingly. This guy is very dangerous and it is very lucky he didn’t kill the innocent people in the other car.

Surveillance cameras don’t do the greatest job with skin tone, that’s true. It’s a technology they are trying to improve upon. He had a beard in an earlier mug shot, and men can easily shave their beards.
