DC still a great place to live - post what you like about this city

Restaurants are opening up,
the weather is beautiful,
and people are walking around outside.

Just went for a nice walk, grabbed some Indian food, and ate it on our patio.

Said hi to a few neighbors.

There are a lot of people on the street looking happy.

Very glad to be back in DC - what a great city. And we haven’t even seen all of our friends yet. Looking forward to catching up with more people and meeting new ones. The people in DC are the best part of living here.

(Ps trolls: we know there are lots of conservatives who love to troll this site and try to bring people down. First: it doesn’t work. Second, if you’re going to be negative about DC whether you are a troll who lives in Tennessee or just a conservative hating on the city because you are jealous — take it to another thread. Yeah guns/violence/busing/states rights/density/racial divisiveness, we’ve heard it all from you, take it somewhere else.
Positive views on DC only.
Backhanded compliments and/or hating — take to another thread and pollute that one.)

So excited for this summer in the city!

I love the walkability, the parks, urban green spaces, the waterfront, the monuments. I love the food and am looking forward to live music again, I love the museums and am looking forward to all of the diverse kinds of cultural and other events that are usually going on around the city. Been living in DC for 11 years and still feel like an amazed happy tourist.

I love how much there is to do, always (less so in COVID times but still so much!) Hiking, museums, zoo, restaurants, etc. I love our DPR facilities/ I swim for free year round. I love my friends and family here.

I love my neighborhood! The porches are close enough to the sidewalk that we can visit with neighbors. Adjoining porches often facilitate good friendships.

Calling 311 has made getting city services much easier.

I love our charter school. Such dedicated and kind educators. I like have the choice of different schools, and I loved the high quality pre-school education my children got. And that all children in our city have access to a good pre-school education. It shows our city's dedication to reducing educational inequality.

I went walking yesterday to pick-up a pizza and on the way I passed my bank, Starbucks, grocery store, two parks, a half dozen restaurants, and my gym. There were dozens upon dozens people smiling, laughing, outside enjoying the beautiful weather and going in-and-out of the local shopping.

I love D.C. because its all accessible at your doorstop, so clean, so friendly, and there's always something to do.

I love that the museums are free. Every time we visit another city and have to pay to go to a museum I'm reminded of how great it is that we can pop in anytime for a quick visit.

I love the brand new playground the city installed at the end of my block. It’s so great just to walk down the block and have a playground right there! Can’t wait for the spray area to open!

Metro gets a lot of hate but it’s a really fantastic system, especially when you include the bus. It’s clean, relatively inexpensive (if you’re in the city) and goes most places that you want to go.

Yes, people are really coming out the past few weeks. City is returning to normal!

Is this the same poster constantly posting? Doesn’t take a genius to see writing style is the same.

I don’t have to waste hours of my day in a car to spend it hiking outside, visiting museums, going to eat, shopping, etc. I love walking through this incredibly lush, green city. It’s truly beautiful. I also love that most people here share my liberal values. I can’t imagine living in someplace with trump qanon nazi people who have confederate flags on their cars. The weather here is pretty fantastic outside of the hottest part of the summer (which was never this hot when I was young).

It is getting better and better for cycling.

I love it too, but only because of my neighborhood. I was miserable in Columbia Heights; too many people.

Excellent troll effort, A-1! Backhanded compliment while basically pushing a falsehood about density.
Hope you don’t get any bites at this hook.
