No surprise, but there was hope. I had hoped Collins would see the light and side with women who see Kavanaugh as a symbol of the many men who abuse women with no consequences. If Collins were empathetic to women, as Murkowski is, apparently, she would vote no. But she voted against all the women who have been abused by men, and she will pay in the next election. She never intended to run again, so Collins doesn't care that she betrayed women. Shame on her.

No, it's your side who will pay for the egregious smear campaign. Perhaps check to see if your passport is valid so you can be ready to leave.

There was NO smear campaign! Are you drunk on vodka, Natasha?

You keep repeating the Trumputin troll lies, so you must be drunk on something because all this repetition has to be boring!!

Unless you're a bot, of course, then you have no mind, no feelings, you are merely a machine programmed by Russian men.

I never would have thought that Lindsey Graham and Susan Collins would become my two favorite Senators.

+1,000

You both are blind. If you cannot see through this politicized parse, you deserve all that is about to come your way.

But I think I’m going to start teaching that what really matters is always winning and always being right. Be the best, best everyone else, you’re always right and never wrong. Hold her down, she doesn’t matter, forget it ever happened, grow up and compete and be better than everyone, so you alone can win. I mean, right?

No please don’t do that. There are enough of the latter in our world. I always taught my DS, as you do. He is a teen and incredibly kind, compassionate and a gentleman. He followed this hearing and finally Collins explanation. Like me, he feels numb & indifferent. He feels there is validity from sides. I now need to help guide him on being less impressionable in this culture, to do the work, understand the facts, listen to all sides and most importantly to his heart.

Who are the male role models for teen boys and young men if it isn't the President of the United States and the men who sit on the highest court in the land?

There are plenty of wonderful role models for teen boys and young men. My DH, for example. For starters, he's never sexually assaulted anyone. DH doesn't drink or use drugs, he's a mature, responsible, civic-minded human being and he's a great role model for my boys and for other boys in our community. My DH thinks Dumpus and Kavanaugh are despicable, and no one should look up to them.

My point was how disappointing it is that a president or justice can no longer be counted on to be role models. That is sad for our country and ironic for our boys: do not act in any way like the President of the United States.

Yes, I agree that it is depressing as all get out that I would (and have) tell my boys not to be at all like the president, that he only got where he is by breaking laws, by betraying his country. I’m the one who posted the link to the video of the men protesting Kavanaugh. I showed my boys that, too.

Do your boys talk back when you say no to them? Because if they do, they haven't been taught that "no means no".

That is not an analogous situation! Of course children say no to their parents! They are children!

But "no means no" refers to sexual consent. And my boys have been taught that no means no. They also know not to binge drink, and they were raised to be compassionate human beings. They are Democrats.

I’d love to hear one anti-Kavanaugh poster say something of substance and refrain from straw men and name calling. Tall order.

Ugh.

So you must have enjoyed Lindsey's performance last week? I hear he'll be cast as Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. He loves drama!

Anonymous wrote:Thanks (eyeroll) Collins for being the MamaBear shield the Republicans desperately needed, hiding poor wee little Brett under your skirt. What a farce! A man could not have done this. The chess move of using (yes, using) a woman is tactical but shameful all the same. I hope you are voted out.

Well said.

Collins will be voted out. Do you think the yahoos in Kentucky will vote McConnell out? They must be dumber than sh*t for voting for him in the first place. He's taking away their health care, keeping their wages low, wants to keep the poor from getting food stamps -- and these people are his constituents!!

That said, it was a BRILLIANT move of McConnell to use Collins for cover. Brilliant. He did not get where he is for nothing.

I am not sure Collins will be voted out. Maine is an independent, frugal place. I wonder if Collins’ eventual opponent will be perceived as beholden to outside money, and that the money is being wasted. The caretaker at my parents’ Summer house thinks Collins is fabulous. Her wife, a cheese maker, thinks the same. She is the only republican they say they vote for.

Collins has been consistently voted into office by Democrats that have crossed lines to
Vote specifically for HER because they thought she had their interests at heart. The Maine paper came out against Kavanaugh. She doesn’t have her constituents best interests at heart. She has McConnell’s. It’s very likely they’ll run a Trump Republican against her anyway in the primary.

No, if you haven't taught your children to respect YOU and what YOU tell them, why should they respect some girl?

Some of you need to take your head out of your you-know-what.

The SC must be losing their lunch right now. Can you imagine the dread they will feel going to work on Tuesday?

Murkowski voted on behalf of her important constituency among native peoples. Not everything is about gang raping.

I am so depressed too. The people posting on this board are depressing.

Fortunately, I don't know anyone who believes Kavanaugh is fit to serve on the SC, so I don't know any of these posters.

It's a sad day for our democracy.
