Some of the top kids are 3-5 classes above calculus. they're not just doing the basic curriculum. STA is doing things well but they're not getting blood from a stone. if your kid was that impressive they'd be getting into Stanford and Cambridge too--regardless of what grading their Hugh school is doing or not.

That is 1/4 of the grade going to top 25 schools?

No A minuses at Saint Alban's, is that true?

If so, it is a huge advantage for their kids because GPA is the most important factor in admissions.

Sidwell gives massive numbers of A minuses, and it is one of many factors that hurts their students chances of admissions compared with other schools.

I thought STA didn't use letter grades - but actual % on 100% scale

Both - letter grade on transcript and use actual percentage to give average which they put on the common app

Oh please noone is 3-5 classes above calculus. Their grading system is an advantage just admit it. I am happy for them.

Yes. They are taking math outside of STA.

Does STA report the outside math classes on their transcripts?

They do not have one and never have. Kids post for their friends and family to see but not strangers that do not know them.

Princeton has had 8 suicides in the past 3 years. I think this is an important fact when discussing college admits because many of the top students are NOT applying to Ivies anymore. The pressure and lack of a well balanced fun college experience is a turn off for many. I know from experience. Kids with the scores and grades not even considering Ivies.

Don’t colleges recalculate the GPA? Or is that just hearsay…

Only some do. Most do not.
