Is St. Johns a lacrosse powerhouse? I never hear them mentioned in the same sentence as Landon, Prep or Gonzaga.

They hired somebody. Horsey was a failure as a coordinator at Landon, but maybe he'll succeed at STJ.

What is meant by "coordinator".

He was the offensive coordinator at Landon. If you don't know anything about spots, why ask?

He was a 4th grade teacher at landon for 3-4 years. Anyone who knows bobby horsey knew he had aspirations to become a head lacrosse coach. He applied for several jobs while at landon. (Saint Albans and a deMatha) . He left to start a program at saint Andrews and then from there left saint Andrews after a. Year and is now at St. John's. (He won't last 3 years at SJC)

He'll last a long time at STJ if he is a good teacher. That sort of thing won't get you too far at Landon for 3-4 years as you well noted.

I think he's a good recruiter. He'll probably do fine or better at SJC. The tuition is a bargain, the quality of facilities fast increasing (particularly with Under Armour money), and the laxers can go to school with girls! Not a bad sell.

Yes, if you are in the market for a private school that as a bonus is also a "lacrosse academy" of sorts, SJC and Gonzaga at less than $20K is a better value proposition than Landon, GP, Bullis, etc. at $35K-40K each. Not a bad sell at all. The next few years will be very telling. PVI is building a powerhouse for lacrosse on the Virginia side, and basically the appeal of that school is cheap(er) tuition for high level sports programs including lacrosse. When Landon. GP and Bullis start seeing competition on the field tighten, it will get harder and harder for families to rationalize sending their sons there if a big focus in doing so is to get the kid his best shot at a prized D1 sports scholarship if the same level of play can be bought for a lot less at some other schools. Most prominent is Gonzaga. They seem to have taken over as the gorilla in all sports, and it is a decent academic school to boot.
