Homeless in McLean?

Anonymous
I've noticed that there are a few of homeless guys in McLean as of late, mainly hanging around the Giant on Chain Bridge Road. One guy has been there since last year and I've seen him everywhere, from the sops on Chain Bridge to the churches along Georgetown Pike. He has a few shopping carts full of things (now that I think of it, they all do; it's 2 or 3 guys AFAIK). They mainly keep to themselves, but how did they get to McLean?

There are a TON of homeless people in Mclean. You don't know unless you live there. Especially in the Balducci's area.

Also there is a church that homes homeless men in Mclean. They have to be out of the church from about 8 to about 6.

I've lived in McLean for the last 20 years and this is news to me! I never go to Balducci's, though. I know we have SHARE here and that they help homeless people in Fairfax County.

I know about the one guy. He always walks from the Langley area to downtown. I heard that he grew up in the area.

There’s a sizable tent camp in the woods near Kirby Road, down in the little valley by the creek. A neighbor was walking her dog there the year before last and a white man who seemed to live in one of tents exposed himself and followed her for some distance while masturbating.

What? Where, near Kirby and Westmoreland? I’ve never seen anything back there. I’m not saying that didn’t happen but I’m not aware of some tent encampment.

NP, but my guess was Marie Butler Leven Preserve as the mystery location?

I've noticed several homeless strangers around McLean, mainly at night. But the most mysterious person, that I wonder about is the lady who is always at the Mclean Post Office in the evenings. Who is she? Where is she from?

Is she inside the post office at night or outside?

I know who you mean. She won't speak. Wears low bun I think. older woman. You'd think she was shipping something, but never does.

We call her Hazel because it sounds like what she says is her name. If any of us see her at lunch time, we will take her a sandwich or soup and salad and water. I sometimes give her money so that she can buy food in the morning.

A homeless person sleeps in the lobby of the post office at night. They crawl under the table and behind the display.

They probably walked.

Is there a force field around McLean to keep homeless people out?

Don’t you think the positive of having homeless people in McLean is to teach many residents a lesson on gratitude, and appreciate every bit of a homemade meal?
Throwing away food in your children’s presence has a tremendous impact. Children learn to refuse nutritious, healthy meals.
