Spa time - plantar wart on foot

Anonymous
Hi. I love spas. Massages and facials. Both typically you undress and lay naked on a table. I have a plantar wart on my foot that is embarrassing. I am working on removal but it is stubborn do I just tell the spa tech not to touch my feet? I haven’t had a pedicure in a long time too...

Yes, I would wear socks and tell them not to massage your feet.

Delay the spa trip.

are you going to a dermatologist? OTC treatments typically can't handle plantar warts, it likely needs laser treatment

Yes I am. It’s a lengthy process to deal with this.

Ugh sorry. I had one and it took forever to go away.

But to your question: wear socks entire time and no feet touching. Don't get a pedicure EVER again.

You can wear socks during your massage and just tell them you'd prefer not to get a foot massage. That's pretty normal actually. I always wear socks when getting a massage or chiropractor appt.

Definitely no spa pedicure... you can spread this to others.

NP derms don't deal with foot warts, that's a podiatrist. Podiatrists actually have better stuff they can use than derms because foot skin is so much thicker. I had a blistering agent put on my foot, the wart (a huge, painful one I'd had for years) blistered and popped off within a week and then I was done. I had tried other things for years to get rid of it.

Good advice. I had one and went to a derm a few times and they would freeze it. But it never worked. I treated OTC for probably a year pretty aggressively and it finally went away. But if I ever get one again, I will head straight to the podiatrist.

Get it lasered off. It will hurt like heck, but it works. Also, please don’t walk barefoot in the spa. I’m pretty sure I got mine from a pedicure.

NP the blistering agent that pp described doesn't hurt at all. They paint it on and then it pops off. Sure it's sore when you lose the skin underneath, but that happens no matter what.

As a former planter wart victim, I will not be sockless or without at least flip flops anywhere besides my own house and a sandy beach.

OP here. Have only seen derm. She is also having me tak2 2x daily 220 mg zinc sulfate which is also helping.

This is why I will not get a pedicure. People with warts and fungus getting pedicures.

I found the opposite to be true, podiatrist and derm just kept cutting out but not removing everything. So it would come right back. Put watt off on a few times a day with a bandaid on top and it went a way for good relatively quickly.
