Waiting List at Mundo Verde

Anonymous
I have a terrible number for Mundo Verde Calle Ocho (104), I called to see whether I have a chance to make it since it's our #2 choice school, and they said I should move it to #1 because they take it into consideration and that I could still make it.

Is that true? This was the receptionist. It doesn't seem right, is it?
Anonymous
No. That's totally wrong. And you have no chance. Move on.

Well that's unethical and interesting. I'm SURE schools do stuff like that, but it's pretty surprising they said that explicitly. Did they ask your name by chance?

OP: they didn't. This person probably doesn't know

Or they didn't understand what you were asking them.

The only way the preference order would be a consideration is if you got off the list at your current #1 school and accepted the slot. In that scenario, you would lose your wait list spot at MV. But if you flipped the order and put MV as #1, you could accept an offer at the other school and stay on the wait list for MV. So now might be a good moment to make sure your list is in the order of true preference.

OP, I'm so sorry, but I don't think #104 is going to get off the wait list. Stranger things have happened, of course, but I wouldn't hold your breath for it. I'm guessing the person in the phone didn't fully understand your question. If you like MV better than the school that's number one on your list, move MV up. Otherwise, stay.

You won't get in. Sorry.

And yeah that info is totally wrong.

MV was super on the ball with the waitlist. I emailed them that we were not accepting our spot and literally 2 minutes later I had an email from My School DC updating our list and from them responding to my email!

This. They didn’t understand your question. They don’t have a clue about admissions and how the lottery works.

What grade? PK lists move quite a bit. I wouldn't write it off at 104 at all.

For PK3, no chance. If this was for K I would say maybe.

To be fair, you don't have a terrible number. You are in the top 50% of numbers of that school https://public.tableau.com/profile/aaron2446#!/vizhome/MSDCSeatsandWaitlistOfferData/MSDCPublicDisplay
