The only way the preference order would be a consideration is if you got off the list at your current #1 school and accepted the slot. In that scenario, you would lose your wait list spot at MV. But if you flipped the order and put MV as #1, you could accept an offer at the other school and stay on the wait list for MV. So now might be a good moment to make sure your list is in the order of true preference.

OP, I'm so sorry, but I don't think #104 is going to get off the wait list. Stranger things have happened, of course, but I wouldn't hold your breath for it.
