| Texting DD. Who to report this to? Police? |
| Anybody? He used tik tok posed as a friend of friend |
|
Call police and tell child abuse investigator.
They can catfish him as a 15 year old and bust him if his intentions are nefarious. |
| Okay, thanks. That’s what we were thinking of doing. Thankfully we caught it early but it’s unsettling to say the least and hope that he can be stopped. |
Do you really think the police will do this?? |
| OP - I’m not sure, but I’ve got to do something. Any other thoughts? Already reported to tik tok, but not thinking anything will come of it. |
Yes they do that. |
| Police and report to your local FBI office. They also do those kind of investigations. |
| Local FBI, great suggestion. Thanks! |
| Everyone gave advice, but seriously, why is your kid giving out their phone number to a complete stranger online? |
| How did you discover his real age? |
| Talk to your kid about these things. You can't control other people. Focus on YOUR kid not falling for this shit. |
About two weeks ago, I reported this sort of thing to the FBI. I have tons of evidence, including unbelievably scary screen shots of texts. I haven't even gotten a call back or a request for my evidence. It's really discouraging. I'm not trying to discourage you from reporting, just sharing. |
You can always call again to confirm that they have taken your information. Rest assured, it's not going to be ignored, but it might take a long time for them to get to it. So in the meantime, you have to call the local police as well, and if need be, the school or other organization the frauder might claim to be affiliated with. |
Also the report serves as official documentation in case there is an incident. |
