EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46

Anonymous
Love this sunscreen and use it every single day. It makes a huge difference in my skin. The price is now $37 for 1.7 oz. I used to be able to find it for closer to $25 for 1.7 oz. What's the best way to buy it these days? Looking for the real deal, not expired product, for the best possible value. Thanks in advance.

Good Q. I buy via amazon for about $35.

You can put a price watch on it on Amazon via camelcamelcamel.com. I do that for almost all recurring purchases, and only buy when the price has dropped to what I want it to be.

What makes it so good?

I’ve used it for years and years and when I first started I remember thinking my skin looked more clear with it (zinc maybe?). Now I just love how clean, easy, clear it is. It’s a nice base for makeup. Not sticky. No smell. Goes on easy. I recently tried two other brands when I ran out (supergoop and another brand frequently touted - I forget) but within a few days I stocked back up on elta md. It’s the best. - not op

I get it from https://www.dermstore.com/

I do subscribe and save, price is $31.45.

NP, agree it is best. It is a mix of chemical and physical sunscreen so you get the best of worlds; no white and easy to spread. Plus it has only one chemical sunscreen making it gentle on sensitive skin. It goes on clear is moisturizing but not greasy. It doesn’t clog pores. It also doesn’t accentuate dry spots or make skin look flaky if it is dry like pure chemical sunscreen or tinted ones can do

^meant physical. My mineral skinsceuticals is my second favorite sunscreen but it can cling to dry spots

I’ve tried several sunscreens and agree this is the best. It goes on smoothly without leaving a white trace. My dermatologist sells it. They have occasional specials on products. I stock up on this (and other products) during a sale.

Agree this is the best. But I still break out if I put it on my nose or chin. Have literally not found a product I can put in those places without breaking out.

I switched last month to this one from Cerave. Feels similar to Elta MD but doesn’t clog my pores as much: https://www.cerave.com/skincare/moisturizers/ultra-light-moisturizing-lotion-spf-30

This!

DermStore is legit. Direct ordering from Amazon is a terrible idea for most products these days.

I've always paid about $30-35 for it.

I really like that EltaMD is SPF 40+ though.

PP here. Totally get it. I'm a ginger using tretinoin and so far, I feel like the Cerave even though just SPF 30 somehow gives me better protection. EltaMD, I would still get pink and feel a bit burnt. So far, with the Cerave I'm my normal ghostly pale with no freckle increase. It does feel a tad bit thicker, which may be why? We'll see, of course, how that goes into summer!
