LCPS COVID sick bank

How many days do you get?
Do you still have to teach from home even if you have a fever and can’t keep eyes open for your life?
Do you have to provide a copy of the positive test result to principal? To school district?

Aren't all the teachers vaccinated?

If you are teaching from home that’s not taking leave.

All who wanted to be. Some didn’t.

You're trying to tell us that a government employer forces you to work while sick?

You work for government. I'm sure you have ample sick leave so take it. Unless you're one of those who uses every bit of your sick leave and never has it to use when a real issue comes up. In that case, lesson learned.

Yes, sometimes your employer can ask you to provide a sick note. Pretty normal. In my experience, mainly done when the employee has a sketchy history of abusing sick leave.

It seems to me this post is somehow meant to drum up sympathy for teachers. 1) In NoVA, you were first in line to get the vaccine when you didn't even have to go into work physically. No other profession had that benefit. 2) You get ample paid leave. Use it.

My COVID sick bank from work is also caring for others who might have COVID or if I would have to quarantine and could not work from home. I don't know if that is how LCPS is using their COVID sick bank.

I could see a vaccinated Teacher having an unvaccinated family member who has COVID and either needing to care for that person or being told that they have to quarantine because that person is sick. A TEacher who is teaching in person and not online might not be able to Teach from home.

You do have to provide a positive test result to access the extra Covid leave. Not to use regular sick leave.

You can still catch it even if vaccinated.

Few people in this situation would have 14 days of sick leave.

Not really in government. If you're a normal employee who doesn't abuse sick leave and have been in the job for any amount of time, most people have huge sick leave balances.

Wait a minute...LCPS has a special leave bank for teachers who get sick? My school system forces us to use our own leave if we get sick because of work. And if you don't have either sick or personal leave then you go without pay. We've had a teacher without pay for at least a month because she used up her 15 days and still isn't able to return to work.

Yes, we do. But I don’t get straight answers.

I’m just trying to pull off a covid case so I can finish the year from home. I’m done with this charade of a year.

"Charade of a year" is the best put description.

Even if you didn’t need a positive test (per the school board meetings you do) how would two weeks get you to the end of the year?
