Yes, sometimes your employer can ask you to provide a sick note.  Pretty normal.  In my experience, mainly done when the employee has a sketchy history of abusing sick leave.

It seems to me this post is somehow meant to drum up sympathy for teachers.  1) In NoVA, you were first in line to get the vaccine when you didn't even have to go into work physically.  No other profession had that benefit.  2) You get ample paid leave.  Use it.[/quote]

Not really in government.  If you're a normal employee who doesn't abuse sick leave and have been in the job for any amount of time, most people have huge sick leave balances.
