Springfield, VA teen shot and killed two other teens in broad daylight

I wonder who the victims are.

An 18-year-old, Zachary Burkard, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony for allegedly shooting and killing two other teens [on Sunday at 3:18PM].

More details - apparently this started as a social media fight and ended in the neighborhood where the shooter lived - 8000 Winding Way Court, Springfield, VA.

Ouch he’s going to get charged as an adult - just graduating high school this year. No easy ‘juvenile’ offense laws in VA.

Once you’re 18 it doesn’t matter what the ‘juvenile’ offense laws are.

So…all the teens involved went to the same high school. I wonder what the altercation was about.

Where did he get the gun?

Maybe from a gang.

He shot and killed two people. And he’s 18. Why wouldn’t he changed as an adult? Would you say that if he were black?

If he were in DC he would be released under the Youth Rehabilitation Act all the way up to age 24. So some people in this area are shocked when an 18 year old is charged as an adult.

They came to his home. Maybe it was self defense?

If he were in DC, he would still be charged as an adult. He would also not be eligible for a YRA sentence, since he's charged with second degree murder.

Could be. However, the fact that they charge him with two counts of murder means it's unlikely.

That is the look of regret if I ever saw it.
