| In Virginia, the murder of 2 people in same offense is a capital crime. But now there is no death penalty. |

I live in that neighborhood and have heard through the rumor mill that the shooter wasn’t in school any longer (unclear if he dropped out or stayed “virtual” but just wasn’t attending), and that it stemmed from a social media beef about a clothes/shoes business.
Guns and teens are a bad combination.

Would there be a DCUM thread if he and the victims were black? |
Absolutely yes, if it were in a white neighborhood. This thread would already be 40 pages. |
So suburban teens thinking they are gangster ended in tragedy. I'm assuming "beef" is being used because two opposing groups had major problems rather than a mere internet "argument" on this dude's Facebook page. |
If it were black or Hispanic kids in a black or Hispanic neighborhood? |
Absolutely. I guess you deliberately missed the threads about the uber driver and the two teen girls murdered in D.C.? It was huge. |
Wow. So he had to know these people had it out for him. He had a gun ready and everything. But I heard 4 went to his house. All from the same high school. Is the school investigating whether there's a shoe 'dealer' connection? That's 5 lives ruined right there. |
Definitely a case of suburban kids thinking they’re hard over some sneaker/t-shirt business. I wonder if the gun was the parents’ gun or something that the shooter got for himself. |
Just unreal that DC thinks that's ok. |
Perhaps you need to read through the thread before contributing as the above was quickly debunked. |
| What is this clothing/shoe business of which you speak? Common in high school? |
| Why did this man have access to a gun? Where are the parents? |
It sounded to me like the shooter possibly was selling some type of clothing via social media, some other kids made fun of it, the feud escalated, they went to his house, and things escalated very quickly as they are apt to do with impulsive teens. |
If it were in Northern VA yes, in DC I'm not so sure. Since murder and other violent crime is much rarer in NOVA than in DC, when it does occur it is newsworthy. |
