Peloton shoe clips

Anonymous
I can NOT get my peloton shoes unclipped from the pedals. I have to skip out of the shoes ..get off the bike and use both hands and all my might to unclip the shoes. Is there an adjustment I am missing?

I always just leave my shoes clipped in

I gave up on the shoes. Just buy the clips that work with your tennis shoes on Amazon. The Peloton installer told me about them!

I find the first unclipping difficult too. I have to scoot my rear way over to the side I’m trying to unclip to get enough traction. The second is easy once you swing the free leg over and on to the floor on the unclipped side.

My DH cannot clip in by himself after maybe 20 attempts. He keeps trying to use force instead of finesse. I have to do it for him while he curses the shoes and pedals. Cracks me up every time.

Just keep practicing. Jerk your heel outward and that should help. I agree that after you get the first one off it is easier if you swing your leg over and get the other one off while standing. It should "click" soon for you.

We gave up and bought the cages so everyone can use the bike easily. I hated the shoes.

Yes, but make sure you don't loosen it too much. And over time, it'll get looser on its own. https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+adjust+peloton+pedal+clips&oq=peloton+peddle+adju&aqs=chrome.4.69i57j0i13j0i22i30j0i390l2.7884j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#kpvalbx=_z3CBYMjuH72EwbkPp6uR6A427

I find that clipping out is easiest while standing with one leg extended straight, all of my weight on it. I clip out of that leg, then shift my body to the other side of the bike (like I'm getting off the bike), extend that leg straight and put all my weigh on it and clip out on that side. Also, twist your toe in toward the bike frame, heel away from the bike frame to actually unclip. Don't pull up and out on the shoe. And make sure the shoes are attached well to your feet and not too loose.

That said, you may already be doing all of that. I had a pair of those strap things that clip in (so that you can wear regular shoes on the bike) and couldn't get them off except by using my hands.

What are these magic clips? Will you send a link?

Me either! And I am a seasoned cyclist. I have worn clips for decades. I just leave them on the pedals.

Also we leave them on all the time. We have 5 riders, male and female ages 14-50. I don't adjust them when I get on. Just slip my shoe in and go.

+1 - these are the ones we use, too. Three daily riders.

Tennis shoes are not ideal because they're so soft. Cycling/spinning shoes are stiff which puts all the power into the pedal. People used to cycling/spinning shoes may not like this approach.

Switch the. Out for speedplays. The OEM clips are garbage. I know two people who jacked up their knees with them.

So you ride your bike outside and leave them clipped in?

OP I am a seasoned cyclist as well. Get a screwdriver and some chain oil and loosen the clips.
