Peloton shoe clips

+1. We like the cages so much more. Less of a hassle -- and admittedly, partly because I am known to be naturally woefully uncoordinated with lousy balance and although being clipped in is supposed to make you feel more secure, I felt more secure when I knew I had the option to bail out if I had a problem. YMMV.

I'm the only one that rides our Peloton so I just leave the shoes clipped in because I was having such a hard time clipping out.

You can loosen the clip mechanism. DH did this the second day we had the bike and it’s been easy to unclip since.

I’d try that before getting cages. The bike shoes/clips really are more efficient and engage different muscles.

This x 100. Please don't use shoe cages. That's like running in rain boots or buying tires for a Ferrari at Costco.

Adjusting the clip tension is super easy - https://support.onepeloton.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001079006-Adjusting-Your-Pedal-Tension

Other tricks -
1) push down on the resistance knob while trying to unclip.
2) while pushing down on the resistance knob, turn your heel away from the bike.

Using shoe cages instead of clipless pedals will significantly impact the efficiency of your workout and your output.

Personally and like another poster suggested, I love speedplay pedals more than delta for a road bike, but that is a significant investment. You can buy tons of Look Delta compatible cleats and bike shoes in different styles and budgets.

Regardless, you spent a lot of money on a technical piece of equipment and pay a good deal for a subscription. It is a shame diminishing the performance of that investment for a minor convenience and to overcome a learning curve.

Just sharing your frustration. I’ve clipped into a road bike years and never had a problem. These shoes are uncomfortable and I’m going to jack up my knee for how much effort it takes to unclip. Now I leave them on the pedals all the time instead but they’re still uncomfortable. I think I’ll change pedals and shoes.

What are these magic clips? Will you send a link?

Also we leave them on all the time. We have 5 riders, male and female ages 14-50. I don't adjust them when I get on. Just slip my shoe in and go.

+1 - these are the ones we use, too. Three daily riders.

Thank you! Bought 'em!

Make sure your heel is level. Honestly though everyone can clip in and out. It’s not that hard. If you’re having trouble, you’re just doing it wrong. Watch another video.

LOL, I knew someone would pop on here and make these points. The fact that my husband and teen can and do pop on and off the peloton regularly now make the loss of efficiency for me, the most dedicated rider, so worth it. Really, we're okay.

SPD clips are much easier to clip out of than the delta cleats the Peloton shoes and pedals use. We have a set of pedals that have spd on one side and delta on the other to accommodate my preference and my husbands.
